PENDLE Leisure Trust staff have joined the fund-raising effort for four-year-old cancer sufferer Sam Shaw.
Sam, from Hoddlesden, is fighting neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer, and his family need to raise £250,000 to pay for treatment and associated costs in America.
His mum, Christine, used to work in the administration department at Pendle Leisure Trust’s head office in Colne.
Staff have already taken part in fund-raising activities and there are more events planned.
Vanessa Kelly, the trust’s human resources manager, said: “Christine was a popular member of staff and we really felt for her and little Sam when we heard the news.
“There was no hesitation. We wanted to do something and the rest of the staff were right behind us.
“It is an ambitious target, but every bit helps and if we can do our bit to get Sam to America, we will.”
Anyone who wants to help Sam can buy a wristband for £2 from all Pendle Leisure Trust’s facilities in Nelson, Colne and Barnoldswick, or donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/SamShawAppeal
