A DARWEN councillor has been told not to use a stencil to paint anti-dog fouling signs on walls.
Sudell councillor Roy Davies had used the stencil, which depicts a dog defecating and has the words ‘please clean it up, thank you’ underneath, on Industry Street.
But Coun Davies was contacted by borough environmental sustainability manager Stuart Hammond who told him to stop using the stencil after complaints, until rules on its use could be drafted.
Coun Davies said: “I have only had people saying it was good to see someone doing something about it.
“This is one of the worst areas in the ward for dog fouling and this is the thanks you get for trying to tackle the problem.”
