A MAN has been left with a fractured cheekbone after a fight broke out between seven Kurdish men in Blackburn.
Detectives have launched an investigation after attending a disturbance in the Bank Top area on Wednesday night.
A brawl broke out between the seven men, who are said to all know each other, police said. Officers were initially called by concerned passersby, to Duckworth Street but the brawl was discovered outside the Kings Pharmacy in King Street.
Police were forced to step in and break up the fight shortly before 7pm.
Paramedics were called after a 33-year-old man suffered facial injuries. He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where it was discovered he had a broken cheekbone. He is still in hospital.
A spokesman for Lancashire police said: “I urge anyone who saw the fight break out around 7pm on Wednesday to come forward and contact police.
“Fortunately, the victim has not been more seriously injured.
“Lancashire Constabulary takes all matters of violence very seriously. Anyone who witnessed the incident should come forward and help us discover what happened.”
A 29-year-old man from Blackburn was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
