REVELLERS, who put themselves at risk by drinking excessively, are being warned as part of a crackdown in East Lancashire.
The warning comes as part of a dedicated operation to tackle alcohol-related crime in the run-up to Christmas.
Patrols will be carried out across Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale and officers will be working alongside local licensees and taxi firms carrying out a range of activities.
The initiative is part of Lancashire Constabulary’s Bah Humbug campaign, which will see residents being given useful advice to help them keep both themselves and their property safe over the festive period.
Chief Inspector Sheena Tattum said: “We often see an increase in levels of crime and disorder in the weeks leading up to Christmas, particularly in relation to incidents arising from drinking too much.
“We want people to enjoy themselves but not at the expense of others or their own personal safety.
“The safety of people using our town centres at night time is paramount.
“We are working closely with a number of agencies including the council, health service, licensees and door staff to make sure our towns remain safe for everyone this Christmas.”
