WORK on upgrades to the gym equipment at St Peter’s Leisure Centre in Burnley has begun.
The refurbishment will see the gym equipment replaced with over 75 fitness stations that can’t be found anywhere else in the area.
Members will also have access to ‘virtual trainers’, where workouts can be downloaded to USB sticks or smart phone apps, and used on any of the new equipment, allowing distance, calories burned and average times to be recorded.
Coun John Harbour, executive member for leisure, said: “The gym transformation will put us at the top of the chart when it comes to health and fitness.
We look forward to existing members and newcomers alike using the facilities.”
The full refurbishment is expected to be completed before Christmas. During this time members will have full use of Padiham Leisure Centre as normal.
