ONE of the country’s leading Shakespearian actors returned to his native East Lancashire to give a day-long workshop.
Jonathan Slinger who was born in Accrington and grew up in Great Harwood, is one of the stars of the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford.
He led a series of young actors in a masterclass at the Westholme School Theatre in Blackburn.
The event was organised by Lorna Slinger, secretary of the Blackburn Speech and Drama Festival, to increase awreness of Shakespeare and to encourage youngsters to take part in the prestigious competition.
Jonathan himself first entered the festival competitions as a three-year- old.
As well as teaching the youngsters, he took part in a question and answer session and ended the day by performing extracts from Shakespeare.
