PENDLE MP Andrew Stephenson has praised the apprenticeship scheme run by Higham business Roaming Roosters.
The bistro and farm shop took on two new apprentices through its ‘can you hack it?’ programme.
Speaking in Parliament Mr Stephenson said: “Pendle’s young entrepreneur of the year, 26-year-old Simon Mellin, has established a bistro and farm shop with his younger brother.
“Roaming Roosters opened just a few months ago, but is already employing 30 members of staff. With the help of Pendle Borough council and Nelson and Colne College, Roaming Roosters ran the ‘Can you hack it?’ programme, which saw 10 young people compete for two butchery apprenticeships in the firm.
“Simon is now helping the other eight youngsters to find work with other local businesses.”
