THE mugshot of a prolific drug dealer jailed for supplying cannabis in Blackburn is to feature in a poster campaign.

Faisal Khan, of July Street, Blackburn, was arrested after police discovered cannabis worth more than £30,000 during a raid at his home in July 2012.

The 23-year-old was put behind bars for two years ten months after he admitted possession with intent to supply at Preston Crown Court.

The dealer who caused misery for many residents during his reign was caught after residents complained to police about his behaviour.

Details of his conviction and his picture will now feature on a leaflet which will be handed out to local residents in the Audley area of Blackburn.

This is the seventh time the campaign has been used in Eastern Division, the police division which covers Blackburn, Darwen, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

The posters, which say, ‘Two years ten months’ and ‘Your neighbourhood is safer. Let’s keep it that way’, form part of a joint initiative between the police and Lancashire Police Authority.

They are designed to inform local communities how long criminals have been sent to prison for and reassure them about the action taken by the police.

Blackburn South East Neighbourhood policing Sgt Jon Cisco said: “This clearly illustrates to the people of Blackburn that police take drug dealing very seriously and I hope the leaflets help to reassure residents that a drug dealer is now in prison.

“Khan was arrested after members of the public reported concerns to local police officers. We are committed to working with the community to tackle drug dealing and we will continue to do everything within our power to identify those responsible and bring offenders to justice.”

Anyone with information about drug dealing in their community should call police on 101.
