SLOAN On 12th May 2023, peacefully at Chorley Hospital, Hugh James, aged 73 years. Retired Assistant Head Teacher of St. Wilfred's School, Blackburn. Beloved husband of Pamela, dearly loved father of Stephen, David and Paul, loving father-in-law of Kate and Jasmine, devoted grandad of Thomas and Evie, much loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle. Funeral Service will be held at Charnock Richard Crematorium on Monday 5th June at 3:30pm. Family flowers only please. Sleep tight Mr Sloan, you were an amazing teacher and mentor during my school days. Even though you were strict you were one of the good ones! Thankyou for being part of my journey in early life. Rest in peace xxx

I was so saddened to hear of Mr Sloan's passing. I attended St Wilfrid's between 1994 and 2001 and he was one of my favourite teachers. Engaging, with a great sense of humour and knew just how to handle those who messed around! A kind man and a great teacher. Sending love to all his family and friends, from Laura (nee Oddie) xx

RIP Mr Sloan. Such a great teacher with a kind heart but could scare you with a stern look or his dark sense of humour. I'm sure you will be missed.
