BARKER Shirley Evelyn Shirley died as she had lived, at the heart of a family who loved her dearly. Whilst her passing on 25th February is hard to bear, or even to believe, we are grateful that her husband Peter who has been her loving companion for 63 happy years was holding her hand as she said goodbye to us all. Her daughter Kate, her grand-daughters Stephanie, Emma and Jessica and even her great-grand-daughter Maisie were with her too. We were blessed to have been loved by a woman whose irreverent sense of humour, fierce intelligence and curiosity about the world, and all of the people in it, enriched our lives immeasurably. A service in celebration of her life will be held at Pleasington Crematorium on Tuesday 14th March at 3.45pm and we would ask for donations to Marie Curie rather than flowers. Do come if you knew her. She would have loved that.
