COOKSON Irving 1947-2022 Irving was born in Accrington and was the eldest child of the late Margaret and Albert Cookson. He attended Rhyddings Secondary School and on leaving school he worked down the pit at Hapton Valley Colliery. Upon leaving Hapton Valley, he worked in Stanhill Mill. He went to night classes to study bricklaying, allowing him to later own his own business within the building trade. He had a love of Greyhounds and would race them on the tracks with his dad and his good friend Stan. Following a serious accident in the 1990's Irving was unable to continue with his work and in 2016 following a massive stroke, Iriving resided in Belsfield House in Blackpool. His funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Thursday 20th October 2022 at 2.20pm.
