DANCE teacher Graham Vernon, from Samlesbury, gives his verdict on the tenth episode on Strictly Come Dancing.
What a week for John and Kristina - and what a beautiful emotional ending to a very stormy journey.
John can hold his head up high in the world of dance, and, with two dances each next week I think he just wanted a rest, despite all the rumours.
Lisa and Brendan - Quickstep
This girl has really come into her own. Good strong top and leg lines with beautiful poise and posture - I could not take my eyes of her. If I am completely honest, I would say they are a well matched couple as she danced as well as Brendan did. Should they have been in the bottom two? Not in my opinion.
Christine and Matthew - Cha Cha
There were some strong highlights to the routine. However, her leg and hip action seemed very forced and not as fluid as it should be and her timing was off in parts as well. But her performance has improved as her confidence has grown.
Jodie and Ian - Jive
A good performance this week from Jodie and a good strong kick action. She just needed to extend the leg line to finish them off. A little more elevation on her chasse and rock step would have made it appear less flat footed. From the waist up she was right on the money but from the waist down there was still a bit more work needed. She has come along way from the first week when her score was only 25. She said herself she had been ill this week but if it was Jodie and Christine in the dance off I feel it would have been a lot harder decision to make. Do you agree?
Tom and Camilla - Tango
Tom has passed Austin for the last two weeks on the leaderboard. The Tango is a very difficult dance to find the right balance and at the beginning of the routine he found it. What a great foot release from the floor which needs to be soft as the strength should be all in the upper body. He mastered it beautifully. The routine went off a little in the middle as his arms became too forced, but if that was in the semi-final he would have scored a couple of tens.
Rachel and Vincent - Foxtrot
What a beautiful, graceful, fluid Foxtrot. She danced like a real professional with beautiful body control. They looked perfectly matched heading easily into the final. If anything her left shoulder was a little high because of the placement of her left hand, but she danced like a princess.
Austin and Erin - Cha Cha
Good strong arm lines with the most dramatic ending I have ever seen on Strictly. However, his foot and leg action was not clear and his footwork was disappointing. I feel that Austin has peaked.
This is the second week on the run that there has been little if any improvement. He needs to step it up several gears if he wants a place in the final.
I think at this stage in the game it is going to be Rachel and Tom in the final.
