FOR anyone who's experienced the weird and wonderful pleasures of using a dating agency, the Rossendale Players' latest production, starting on April 1, will strike a chord.
Mr Wonderful tells the story of Norma Green, a 40-something desperate to find her "Mr Wonderful" while caring for her bedridden mother who is on the verge of dementia.
Using an agency she survives a mind-numbing bore and a fanatical cycling freak before meeting the more stylish and sophisticated Geoff who charms both Norma and her mother Phoebe.
But as always the course of true love never runs smooth where would be the fun in that?
Geoff has a secret and it is the wily old Phoebe who discovers his true nature and helps Norma to a decision which brings the relationship to a surprising conclusion.
Reports from the players are that rehearsals are well under way and going well.
Norma is played by Amanda Pierce, Phoebe by Maureen Jackson, Geoff by Paul Higginbottom, and Geoffrey Jackson and Tony McDonagh also appear.
The Sunday performance is a charity night in aid of the British Heart Foundation.
Mr Wonderful is at The New Millennium Theatre in Waterfoot from Saturday, April 1 to Wednesday, April 8. For tickets (£6 or £5 concessions) call Anne Riding on 01706 228720 or get them from Mace at Watts News, Burnley Road East, Waterfoot, or Rawtenstall tourist information centre.
