Blackburn Drama Club have announced their first production of next year.
In March they will be tackling Dennis Potter's disturbing and controversial Brimstone and Treacle.
Mr and Mrs Bates, are a dull middle aged couple who live with their daughter Patty.
Patty was reduced to a vegetable-state after a road accident two years ago.
A polite, clean cut, satanic, young man comes into their lives, claiming to know her with dramatic results.
Their second play will be A Chorus of Disapproval by Alan Ayckbourn in May.
A north country widower attempts to escape from his loneliness by joining the local amateur light operatic society.
By not saying no to anything he advances from a one-line part to the lead. Parallels are drawn between The Beggars Opera and the activities of the society who are performing it.
