I have been to Spanish tapas bar La Salsa, now an established restaurant in Darwen town centre, on a number of occasions – and it never disappoints.

This time was no different, with an abundance of quality and choice flying out of the kitchen all night.

What I will say, and I will get this out of the way early on, is the price has gone up.

I seem to remember that the last time I went to La Salsa for a midweek evening meal it wasn’t much more than a tenner for all you can eat.

Now that price has jumped up to £15, and with the fiancee’s brother in town for a treat, the meal with drinks ended up costing a slightly hefty £65.

But I guess with the amount of food you can potentially eat, that just means you should order more!

There is a host of great stuff.

The cheesy garlic bread is delicious, as is the chorizo, chicken in garlic, king prawns, garlic mushrooms.

The old Spanish classic patatas bravas (spicy potatoes) are also really tasty.

If you’re not familiar with tapas, you basically pick about four dishes from the menu at a time and get a small portion of each.

You can order more food throughout.

In fact we managed to get through three rounds, making it just about value for money.

The atmosphere is lovely, the service is quick and very friendly and the food is superb.
