ROLL back the years and dust down the dancefloor with talc ... soul music has never been healthier!
And steaming into a station near you is East Lancashire's own power engine The SoulTrain.
The band comprises nine brilliant musicians some who have jumped over the track from jazz and even brass bands to bring back soul classics from the 60s and early 70s with an amazing freshness.
And while all of the songs throughout the two-set show were anthems of their era The SoulTrain give them their own little touch.
The Mechanics dispensed with their tier seating to fill the room with tables and ample of dancefloor space and boy was it used.
Everyone in the band attacked the show with a full-head of steam and the show was a thrill from when Booker T's Green Onions welcomed them on stage to the closing bars of Wilson Pickett's Land Of A Thousand Dances.
In between they beltered out around 30 songs and the audience mouthed every word.
The list included: Uptight, SOS, Do I Love You, Hold Back The Night, Same Old Song, Roadrunner, My Girl, Landslide ... you know them all don't you! All of the guys are in there for the love of the music rather than the cash rewards which I can imagine are very little!
So, let them all take a bow. That's Steve Lindley, on lead guitar; Gary Ward, bass; Tec Etchells on keyboard; a horns section of Steve Derbyshire, Andrew Procter, Lee Howson and Rod Wilson; drummer Dan Connolly, and outstanding vocalist Paul Stuart Davies.
The next time you can catch them around here is on July 28 at The Grand Clitheroe.
