So it’s all over, bar any new cash-spinning initiatives by JK Rowling.

The Harry Potter franchise has come to a close and so we can forgive some indulgence of all things boy wizard.

What we can’t do is bump up the score of this film-game tie-in because, while it’s a title that Harry Potter fans will surely lap up and enjoy, it remains, in its own right, a less than magical experience.

So while cinema goers will be soaking up every last second of the final film on the big screen this Summer, the memory of this game will soon vanish in a puff of smoke.

We all know the books are the stuff of legend, the films have been pretty well received by hardcore fans, and the games have fluctuated between good and average.

But in its favour, The Deathly Hallows Part 2 game does actually do the final film justice, sticking closely to the storyline and bringing the Potter world to life with another interactive interpretation in terms of graphics and sound.

While puzzles and exploration are sacrificed at the expense of countless Call Of Duty-style wand shooter battles, it does, it can be said, feel like a fitting way to bring the console experience to a clattering conclusion.

But maybe it’s one to rent or buy in a few months time when it's cheaper.
