Comic book fans will recognise this release as something of a rarity.
While the Batmans and Spider-Mans of this world pop up on your consoles with alarming regularity, Captain America bides his time — it was the 1990s when he had his last arcade outing.
However, with a ‘First Avenger’ film on the horizon, this action effort takes a Second World War scenario to showcase Cap’s combat talents, combining athletic scrapping sequences with fluid platforming.
A variety of shield attacks keep the action fun and fresh, as Cap explores a massive castle-turned-military installation and, while it’s nowhere near the level of Batman: Arkham Asylum, the novelty of seeing a much-loved camera-shy comic character in action has its own value.
