When The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was released for the Nintendo DS, it's incredible use of the handheld's features and the involving storyline made it a more than worthy addition to one of gaming's best ever franchises.

But the finest Zelda game has to be the Nintendo 64 version of Ocarina Of Time.

Released in 1998, it redefined the expectations of gamers.

The 3D action was jaw-dropping and made such an impact that it set the standard for years to come.

With this release on the 3DS, Nintendo has gone far beyond simply porting the game (as it has done with the Wii Virtual Console).

Here the game has been updated and overhauled and it looks and feels better than ever.

The modern twist is that the game is true 3D, as you'd expect from the 3DS.

It adds motion controls and a video hint system but this doesn't take anything away from what Zelda is at its heart – a stunning, tricky puzzle-strewn game that oozes character in a perfect package of blockbuster proportions.

So we gush. But what else could we do when the graphical re-mastering proves so phenomenal in 3D? The reworked control system is perfectly played out on the handheld system and there are even two all-new challenges from the original, exclusive to the 3DS – Master Quest and Boss Challenge.

New life has been breathed into this timeless classic, and no one should miss out on it second time around. It sets the standard for 3DS releases and, given the stature of Zelda, we should expect nothing less.
