WHETHER they like it or not, most parents with children under the age of five will have come across the CBeebies programme Show Me Show Me.
Kids are mesmerised as the stars of children’s TV, Chris Jarvis and Pui Fan Lee, sing dance and act their way around the ‘play room’.
Adults may recognise Chris from presenting The Broom Cupboard alongside Zoe Ball in the early 1990s.
Pui has had a varied career, having played Po, the red Teletubby, as well as appearing in the film Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason as one of the detainees in a Thai prison.
The stage show is billed as a mix of the best bits from the educational programme and centres around a counting game, where the pair hunt down number cards, that lead into songs and games that the children can join in with.
It was my two-year-old son’s first trip to the theatre and he was totally enthralled, never once taking his eyes off the stage.
To my surprise, the duo didn’t forget to keep the less-than-enthusiastic parents entertained, with plenty of adult references and jokes.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Incy Wincy Spider got the best reception and, although some of the characters from the TV show were missing, the children all left with smiles on their faces — as did the parents.
