Superbikes are something of an acquired taste, particularly in gaming.
You’ve got to have some sort of emotional connection with all things two-wheeled to stump up £40 for a bike racer, and once you’ve taken that leap, you expect it to deliver.
SBK X succeeds in delivering a deep, realistic simulation for fans of the World Championship, with dozens of authentic tracks, drivers, teams and bikes, and the kind of in-depth analysis of your on-track performance that would make even the mildest statto go weak at the knees.
But if telemetry and matching tyre-to-track conditions don’t appeal, you can always head down the arcade route, for a racing experience that’s just as adrenalin pumping.
To miss out on the detail of the simulation would be a little like only scratching the surface of SBK X, but whichever way you approach it, it’s one hell of a ride.
