Review by Isabelle Van Lint, aged 10.
EVER since I was little I have been going to pantomimes but this one was by far the best and most fun.
It starred Colne's own Hannah Hobley, of ITV’s Benidorm and BBC’s Cranford, as Fairy Liquid, and Claire-Louise Mealor, from BBC's Dance X winning team, as Princess Aurora.
The other main characters were Prince Charming, Nanny and the evil Carabosse.
It was written, produced and directed by George Critchley who played Simple Simon.
My favourite character was Simple Simon because he was hilarious.
After the show we were told that he only had five days to to learn his lines.
Sometimes he made it look very easy but at other times he did not.
Early in the story, when Princess Aurora first goes into the forest, he kept forgetting his lines and making things up on the spot — but that was what made it so funny.
The actors really got into character and that made it even more excellent.
I also liked the nanny because she was funny as well.
The actor who played her really got the audience involved.
At one point Simple Simon threw half a pint of water into the audience and it soaked me and my uncle who I was with.
The actor who played Carabosse was super and her little dancers were very talented young girls.
I thought the venue was lovely because it was small which made me feel more involved.
I definitely score it 10 out of 10 and cannot wait to go back next year.
I had a great time and it was the best pantomime I have ever seen, so well done to all the actors for making it so good.
Sleeping Beauty runs until 24 at Colne Muni. Call 01282 661234 for tickets.
