Address: Abbey St, Accrington.
Lancashire Telegraph review by John Anson from October 25, 2008.
AS one of the newer arrivals on the town centre dining scene in Accrington, Moccachino clearly knows its place.
In days of yore it would have been known as a cafe - it has no pretension to be seen as anything other than an establishment which offers drinks, snacks and a few more substantial bites for those spending their time in town during the day.
Inside there's some trendy furniture, a wood floor and a very warm welcome. It's not the biggest of places and is proving popular, so that automaticaly creates a good atmosphere.
The menu is on the limited side - panini (why does no-one call them toasties these days?), sandwiches and home made soup are to the fore although you can get chips and some main meals.
I opted for the ham and cheddar panini at £3.45, while the better half had a jacket potato with cheese at £3.50.
There is a good range of teas and coffees, and our drinks were brought promptly to our table.
Both meals were served with a helping of salad and a few crisps.
You can't fault the amount of filling you get with your panini, several slices of thick, tasty ham and a liberal helping of some really tangy cheddar served on thick, lightly toast ciabatta.
The jacket potato was a meal in itself, with a nicely-cooked spud served with plenty of topping.
All too often establishments appear which try and do too much - the menus are too big, the styles of dishes varies wildly and, as a result, the quality suffers.
It looks as though Moccachino has been set up with a clear purpose in mind and, on first visit, it's achieving what it set out to do.
The verdict
Menu's a little limited but what's on offer is very good.
