WHEN an evening's entertainment includes songs about reclusive Mexican doll collectors, murderous Norwegian forest dwellers and a deaf whale you know you are on to a winner.
Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman are one of the folk world's leading duos - and it's easy to see why.
MORE TOP STORIES:
The Mechanics new Front Room venue was the ideal location for this intimate evening as they ran through songs from their new album Tomorrow Will Follow Today plus old favourites.
Some married couples would find it impossible to work together but these two clearly revel in each other's company with plenty of good natured between song banter.
With Sean - yes, he's brother of Seth and Sam - providing some wonderfully understated guitar work and Kathryn taking to keyboards or picking up the flute or clarinet for certain numbers there was plenty to admire musically.
But at the heart of it all were Kathryn's warm, lush and at times bluesy vocals.
Huldra from their award-winning album Hidden People and performed acapella was simply mesmerising.
In fact, the whole evening was pretty special.
