By Bernard Nainghin, Hancock Street, Blackburn.
She was such a lovely girl so full of life
everyone thought the world of her,
It was such a terrible way to go
Run over by a steam-roller.
I laid some flowers where she was buried,
I broke down and then I cried,
Looking down upon her grave which was ten feet long
Two inches deep and all of six feet wide.
She had always been interested in politics
Her first name it was Maud,
When anyone asked her views on anything she was
always middle of the road.
