Asda Extra Special Primitivo 2007, £7.21, Asda Primitivo is Italy’s much underrated red grape.
It’s rich and plummy with a touch of spice and a reasonable 13.5 per cent alcohol for such a chunky wine.
This one comes from the southern region of Puglia and goes well with rich meat like pheasant or curries.
It is also an example of superb ‘own-label’ value.
