Gallo Family Merlot Rose, £6.99, widely available Barefoot are small in US terms but Gallo is one of the world’s best known brands.
This newly-launched Merlot Rose is a much deeper reddish contrast to their two lighter pink Grenache and Zinfandel wines.
Plums and blueberries come to mind in a fuller, sweetish rose which is pleasantly light.
