Go north east from the area mentioned above and you come to the Ardeche region of the southern Rhone which is where this bargain comes from.
The area has a winemaking history that goes back to Roman times and virtually all is either red or pink like we have here.
Made from Grenache grapes there is a hint of liquorice and sweetness in the fruit and it's ideal with a late-summer barbecue.
