A VERY reasonably-priced red ideal for drinking on and around Christmas from the winelands around the Cape of Good Hope in South Africa and a vineyard that was founded just before the Second World War.
Fairly strong, but not stupidly so, at 14% there are all kinds of flavours including blackberries, violets, a little chocolate and a hint of tobacco or cedar smokiness.
A lovely wine for winter nights at a great price.
Douglas Green Cabernet Sauvignon 2005, £5.99, Sainsbury's.
