BOLLYWOOD gets a medieval makeover in the new track “Saturday Night” from the forthcoming movie Bangistan.
Inspiration was apparently taken from traditional Polish culture and the Dark Ages and the song promises to go the whole nine yards with old European castles and knights.
The swords and other Middle Age gear are artistic and life-like while Jacqueline Fernandez’s costume is inspired from the princess’ of yore.
‘Bangistan’ is a satire on fundamentalism and features a comic tale with a strong underlying message highlighting the futility of violence, religious divisions, cultural prejudice, and promoting the message of peace, religious unity and harmony in society.
Joining Fernandez who appears in a cameo role are Riteish Deshmukh (Ek Villain, Housefull, Lai Bhaari), Pulkit Samrat (Fukrey, Dolly Ki Doli), and Chandan Roy Sanyal (Kaminey, D-Day). The story revolves around rival rabble-rousing ragtag organisations, Al-Kaam Tamam and Maa Ka Dal who separately recruit and brainwash Hafeez and Praveen to disrupt the International Peace Conference in Krakow, Poland,.
The aim is to ensure that the group that they represent is allowed to continue to wield local influence.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani said, “‘Bangistan’ is about two unlikely people finding themselves and eventually becoming buddies in the most unusual circumstances.
“It is funny and quirky and both Ritiesh and Pulkit have both enjoyed while shooting the film, and that translates on screen.”
For the mission, both men decide to swap their identities and faiths and, end up sharing an apartment together when they arrive in Krakow to carry out their mission.
