MAJOR names from both sides of the Atlantic are set to make Colne their home for the weekend as the 23rd Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival gets underway.
Starting tonight, over 600 musicians and artists will turn one part of East Lancashire into a non-stop party which lasts throughout the Bank Holiday.
“It’s going to be a great weekend,” said festival organiser Alison Goode. “We have put together a diverse line-up of exciting artists which we hope music lovers will enjoy.
“Year on year we try to inject different elements into the festival and this year we have brought a little jazz on to the international stage on Sunday afternoon.
“But we also have major names such as Booker T and Joan Armatrading.
“But the festival is not just about the international stage. The British stage has a brilliant line-up, the acoustic stage will give people the chance to see unique sets plus there are all the official Roadhouse venues around the town.”
A limited number of tickets for the festival are still available and there will be a new festival box office in a marquee outside the Muni. Pledge badges will also be available from which will allow entry to all the official Roadhouse venues plus British stage.
“The pledge badges are just £5.50 which offers excellent value for those who don’t want a full day ticket.”
