LIVE bands are to play in a Darwen pub on July 17 to raise funds for charity.
The guitarist from Avalon Way, James McNeill, whose band has organised the event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, said they had secured seven bands for the fundraiser at the Bridgewater pub.
The band is raising money in memory of Irene Dearden, who lost her battle with breast and lung cancer in May last year.
Irene’s son, Matthew, is the drummer for Avalon Way.
James said Irene was a great supporter of local bands. She once saw the Beatles play in Darwen.
Last year, a similar event raised £1,000 for charity.
Headliners this time will be Avalon Way, which has reformed after two years and will be playing covers as well as new tracks, Cherrybomb and India Mill.
Bands begin their sets from 3pm and everyone is welcome to attend.
There will be a raffle on the night.
James said: “Macmillan nurses did a great job.
“This event will be fun and a great day for music.
“We hope everyone will have fun listening to the music and help us raise money for charity.”
Entry is free but donations are welcome.
