DO we really need another documentary about the death of Diana?
Of course we don't, but programme bosses, commemorative knick-knack makers and Daily Mail journalists know when you put the word "Diana" into the title of something, you're guaranteed the interest of at least several million.
Last night's Diana: The Week She Died, on ITV1, examined the Royal family's reaction to her death, based on revelations contained in the forthcoming movie The Queen, starring Helen Mirren.
Yep, you read right - not only do we have to endure exclusive new half-baked "revelations" nine years after her death - now there's a film about it.
I know I won't be rushing to my local Odeon for that one.
Last night's documentary was billed as "extraordinary" but didn't seem to come up with any hard evidence that what it was proposing was true.
It examined claims Tony Blair pressured the royals to respond to the public's outpouring of grief and asked whether the Queen contemplated abdicating in the wake of the tragedy.
Maybe it's just me, but the fact that we'll never know the answers to most of the questions surrounding Diana's death, makes it all the more frustrating that people insist on coming up with conspiracy theories.
Why can't we just let her rest in peace?
