A Certain Ratio frontman Jez Kerr is bringing his new band to Blackburn for an exclusive gig on June 25.

The bassist with the legendary Factory Records group has developed a brand new solo outfit, self--titled as Jez Kerr.

The ‘Madchester’ artist performs with a full band of established Manchester musicians, including New Order tour DJ Tintin and The Fall’s drummer Si Wolstencroft.

The band are visiting the Blackburn live music venue among their first live gigs to promote their first solo work Play Sumthing Fast.

It's released through Higuera Records and inspired by a rowdy audience when A Certain Ratio supported Joy Division in Manchester in 1980.

New Order tour DJ Tin Tin will be on the decks.

The show is to celebrate owner Ronnie Brown’s 60th birthday.

Ronnie said: “I decided to make it free to thank all those people who have sent birthday wishes and to thank all those people who have supported us.

"It will be a late show to allow anyone going to see Bobby Womack at King George’s Hall to come along afterwards.”

* See Jez Kerr at North Bar, Town Hall Street, Blackburn, on Saturday, June 25. Entrance is free.
