SIMON Cowell might be back, but for me it’s too late to save Britain’s Got Talent.
With him, or without him, the 2011 competition has done it again.
After weeks of tripe every TV viewer across the country is well and truly sick of BGT before the final even arrives.
And with a semi-final every night this week, we’ve had just about as much as we can take of dancing dogs, tone deaf pensioners and substandard dance acts.
The new judging line up has been surprisingly entertaining, and Simon and his high-waisted trousers weren’t as missed as he’d perhaps hoped.
Michael McIntyre has been great comedy value, and a voice of reason, while David Hasselhoff has brought his own unique ways, and Amanda Holden has really gotten into her stride this year.
Maybe a Simon-free panel does work after all – there’s chance yet for X Factor.
But the standard of talent has been under question once again.
With a more suitable title being Britain Lacks Talent, you could count on one hand the acts in with a chance of winning the £100,000 prize and an appearance on the Royal Variety Performance.
My money’s on bookies favourite 12-year-old Ronan Parke to take tomorrow’s final.
Even Simon Cowell had nice things to say to the new star.
As for the rest, I’d advise some channel hopping until the results.
