CHILDREN from across Rossendale are off to see the Wizard from May 31 to June 5.
The Crawshawbooth-based Valley Academy is staging its first musical for 2011 The Wizard Of Oz at Rakefoot Church Hall.
The cast is led by Natalie Bessaad, 15 as Dorothy and Austen Lowe, 14, as The Wizard.
Last year’s BBC show to cast a West End Dorothy, Over The Rainbow – which featured Valley pet Dangerous Dave who won a charity gala performance as Toto – inspired the academy’s choice of show.
A spokesman for the academy said: “This year promises to be even bigger and better than ever.
"The 65-strong cast have worked so hard on this piece since January. The result is breathtaking.”
* The Wizard Of Oz is at Rakefoot Church Hall from Tuesday, May 31 to Sunday, June 5 with 2pm matinees at the weekend. Call 01706 600236 to book.
