YOUNG entertainers are turning to Disney for their annual performance from February 23 to 26.

That’s Entertainment, the pantomime society formerly known as St Thomas’ Players, will next week stage Disney’s The Jungle Book at Haslingden Primary School.

Society spokesman Howard Jones said: “This year we have broken away from panto and are presenting the North West premier of Disney’s The Jungle Book, which has only recently been released for amateur performance.”

All the Disney favourites appear in the story, Bagheera, Baloo the bear, Mowgli, Kaa the snake, Shere Khan the tiger, Colonel Hathi the elephant, King Louis and a collection of other jungle characters, which also features the well-loved songs from the 1967 film, including The Bear Necessities and I Wan’na Be Like You.

Based on the film, the stage version follows man cub Mowgli, who is lost in the jungle and raised by a family of wolves, before falling into the claw-like clutches of Shere Khan.

The show is produced and directed by society chairman Pete Astbury.
