BBC Folk Award nominee Emily Portman will play Bury on February 17.
Uncut magazine described Portman as “one of the new British folk scene’s most beguiling presences”, and she has already toured regularly with folk legends Waterson:Carthy.
Inspired by folktales and ballads, Emily weaves harmony-rich narratives relaying female experience, accompanied by viola player and singer Lucy Farrell (fresh from touring with The Unthanks) and harpist-singer Rachel Newton of BBC Folk Award nominees The Shee.
* Emily Portman plays the Met, Bury, on Thursday, February 17. Tickets cost £10 advance, or £12 on the door. To book, visit themet.biz or ring 0161 7612216.
