THE world’s most famous orange bob is back on the screens.
Yes, retail guru Mary Portas returned to BBC2 on Monday with a new series of Mary Queen of Shops.
This time round Mary, complete with statement jewellery, is out of her normal fashion comfort zone and is trying to help shop owners to improve their businesses.
But in the very first week our Mary met her match in the form of a bakery owner from London.
While Mary dreamed of turning a family firm into artisan bakers for all the yummy mummies seemingly desperate to pay £2.50 for a fancy loaf, owner Catherine remained defiant.
From the word go she was a one woman wave of negativity and ultimately threw Mary out of the shop, telling her to stop filming and not come back.
I felt sorry for Paul the baker who was bursting to try his hand at new products only to be effectively banned from doing his job.
You have to wonder about the business acumen of someone who thought that Mary Portas should be ignored at all costs but it didn’t half make for entertaining viewing.
Roll on next week.
