TWENTY years ago an aspiring actor from Georgia, America, came to England.
Now a successful comedian of stage and TV, Reginald D Hunter is performing in Burnley on June 8 as part of a mammoth 55-date tour of the UK.
Reg is as well-known – if not better known – for his TV work on comedy panel shows like Have I Got News For You and Mock the Week, but his true love is being on the stage.
Reg is a hypnotic, smooth-talking, very human comedian who hits the funny bone with tales of love, hate, death and everything in between.
His non-secular approach to comedy continues to batter down the constraints of politics, religion and morality.
His comedy doesn’t form alliances or make easy choices by playing to the audiences comfort zones.
He is one of the few performers who have been nominated for the Perrier Award in three consecutive years - as newcomer following his Edinburgh Fringe Festival debut in 2002, and full nominations for the following years’ shows White Woman and A Mystery Wrapped In A Nigga.
Although listed as a sell- out, a small number of tickets may now be available for the increasingly popular stand up.
* Reginald D Hunter is at Burnley Mechanics on Tuesday, June 8. Call 01282 422212.
