WHILE the inmates continue to create mayhem in the televisual freak show that is Big Brother, ITV have clearly decided to step in and demonstrate once and for all that there is only one reality TV show this summer.
You could tell that they were serious about Soccer Aid the moment that Ant and Dec were wheeled out as presenters.
The new best pals of the Royal Family don't appear on screen for just anyone, you know.
Then came the clincher: Robbie Williams was brought on to just blow any other pretender to the reality crown out of the water.
The aim of Soccer Aid sees two teams made up of celebs and former top footballers representing England and the Rest of the World.
The two will meet at Old Trafford in front of 75,000 fans to raise money for Unicef.
But before then we have to endure nightly doses of the celebs sweating away being put through their paces' by former England coach Terry Venables and Ruud Gullit.
Among the celebs taking part are Jonathan Wilkes, a man whose main claim to fame appears to be playing in charity soccer teams.
Gordon Ramsey is captaining the rest of the world team and quickly had the bleeper working overtime as he used all his pursuasive kitchen skills in getting his team to bond. You feel that Mr Gullit may find his position as manager a little under threat before too long.
Admirable though Soccer Aid undoubtedly is, it's ironic to think that if the Premiership's well paid stars donated just a week's wage, it would probably raise just as much.
