JUST when you thought it was safe to go back into the water... along comes Channel Four and offers up yet another instalment of The Games.
Not content with filling our screens over the last two weeks with uninspiring celebrities' indulging in a little school sports, Saturday night's prime-time viewing was take up with a Champion of Champions event.
Basically teams from the last three years of The Games were allowed to splash about in a pool for an hour while Jamie Theakston and an OTT cockney expert' tried to make out this was more exciting than the Olympics. True it probably did feature as much tension as a lot of the Commonweatlh Games and there are undoubtedly thousands of 15-year-old boys who find the idea of Kirsty Gallacher in a swimsuit exciting, but really!
Ex-Boyzoner Shane Lynch demonstrated what happens if you leave someone alone with a Biro for too long as he displayed even more tattoos than the characters from Prison Break and it gave Chesney Hawkes the chance to appear on TV in something other than a what happened to?' programme.
Not surprisingly the team representing this year's competition won they have after all been in training for the past few weeks and Shane Lynch did perform a spectacular dive as opposed to some Peter Kay-style bombing' from one or two others.
But thank goodness it's all over... until next year.
