NOW that Lost' has come to a predictably infuriating end, Channel Four has gone back to America for its latest series which it hopes will get us hooked.
Invasion' is nowhere near as complex as Lost' in terms of plot (if indeed Lost' has a plot) and it is complete hokum, but I suspect it will get us tuning in each week.
To summarise for those who haven't yet experienced Invasion', during the course of a hurricane over Florida, a plane crashes and lots of bright lights are seen falling from the sky.
Said bright lights then seem to take up residence in the Everglades and various residents start to experience personality changes'.
It's a sort of X-Files meets V with everyone being exceptionally photogenic.
Invasion is full of classic Fifties' B-movie moments, such as the geek conspiracy believer telling everyone to stay out of the water'.
Then there's the blonde doctor who didn't stay out of the water and is gradually becoming an alien she'll be clicking like Flipper and playing a selection of air horns by the end of the series.
The police chief is clearly a baddie and even looks like an alien, although he probably isn't.
Then you've got assorted teens, one of whom is definitely going to become an alien and, of course, there's our wholesome hero who will try to sort it all out and no doubt have to take his shirt off on several occasions to do so.
Invasion' will never be lone of the great imports, but let's face it, it sounds much more interesting than Heartbeat'.
