SO – Alan’s Celebrity Ding Dong is back for a second series and everyone thought it would flop.
The first run of posed the all-important question: Who is better, celebrities or civilians?
And it seems that question has been answered once and for all seen as this new series, which seems to be going well so far, has completely ditched all trace of your average Joe. And instead we now have a new format of two teams of rival celebs answering questions on topical trivia.
Which probably makes for better viewing, unless, of course, you knew any of the civilians it was often a bit pointless watching complete strangers trying to be funny on a quiz show, which blatantly needs familiar faces to work.
The thing is though, I think I’ve gone off the show’s host. Yes I know, everyone loves Alan Carr, but I’m just not sure anymore. His over the top ‘Carry On’ style of delivery was quite quirky and made him so likeable at one time, but now I find myself just a bit irritated by it all.
He has been a major success in his own right for years but, I have said it before and I’ll say it again, I think he needs his wingman Justin Lee Collins by his side for the comedy juices to be in full flow.
