SPENDING 24 hours locked in a room with a stranger seems like asking for trouble.

But 24 Hours with... is an innovative' twist on the traditional chat show where celebrity and interviewer spend an intense 24 hours locked in a room together, leaving their mobile phone and PR at the door.

Last night it was Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen of Changing Rooms fame.

And what a nice guy he turned out to be. It's a great idea for a TV show, but would be even better if the interviewer, Jamie Campbell, wasn't totally devoid of any warmth or charisma.

Every question seemed loaded with some kind of secret meaning, like he was trying to catch his interviewee out.

Last week he managed to rub Bobby Brown up the wrong way so much that he threatened to do some very nasty things to him.

And this week he attempted to do the same to the frilly-cuffed one by stripping.

Laurence, who is rarely lost for words, looked traumatised when Jamie emerged from the bathroom completely naked so Laurence could sketch him.

But the man with the penchant for patterned suits soon recovered his composure and, cool as a cucumber, started drawing.

The programme is a good idea in principle. But only lasting 24 minutes seems an oversight - surely a show that takes this much effort deserves an hour?
