CLASSICAL voices will join with the sounds of brass for a seasonal spectacular at Blackburn Cathedral next month.
Carols by Candlelight on Thursday, December 5, will raise money for ChildLine and will feature international tenor Jon Christos, the Westholme School choir, Rossendale Male Voice Choir and the Blackburn and Darwen Brass Band.
The concert is being organised by soprano Janette Monroe, who will also be performing, and who has worked with artists as varied as Russell Watson and Joe Cocker. Janette, from Wigan, is also a volunteer for the NSPCC/ChildLIne school service and the last concert she organised raised a staggering £34,000.
The school service uses specially-trained volunteers to talk to primary school children about abuse and by 2016 it is hoped that volunteers will have spoken to every primary school pupil across the UK.
Tickets for the concert are £8 with children under 16 free when accompanioed by an adult and are available from 0844 892 0253.
