A COLNE property landlord failed to beat the chaser on ITV’s popular tea-time quiz show.
Joanne Nutter, 40, wife of former Colne cricketer Justin, appeared on the ITV show The Chase on Tuesday, hosted by Bradley Walsh.
She was part of a team of four who were hoping to win money by showing their knowledge was better than the chaser, Paul Sinha. Contestants start with 60 seconds to answer general knowledge questions, with each correct answer earning them £1,000.
They then answer questions against the chaser as he attempts to catch them before they answer enough questions to reach home and make the final.
Joanne managed to get three correct answers within 60 seconds but incorrectly guessed that the mountain in Abergavenny, Wales, that shares its name with one in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was Mount Everest.
The answer should, of course, have been Sugar Loaf mountain.
She was then offered an increase of her £3,000 winnings to a massive £45,000 if she started the chase one step closer to the chaser, a chance that she agreed to take. But the chase lasted only two questions as she got both wrong and was quickly caught, quickly ending her TV quiz appearance.
