BLACKBURN alternative rock band Our Dead Friends have been signed by a new record label.

The four-piece, who have a psychedelic groove are one of the first bands on the Preston-based Esprit de Corps Records and will be launching their EP, Dig Your Own Grave, at Blackburn’s Live Lounge on Saturday night.

The EP features four original songs and an album is being planned for release in 2014.

Singer and guitarist Ben Kirton said: “We will be looking to put out a single and accompanying vide in January.

“We were approached by the record label out of the blue.

“It is really exciting for us to be involved at something from the outset.”

The band, who have been together for three months, features Ben, Alex McCormack on lead guitar, bassist Luke Ainsworth and Danny McGurty on drums.

“The label heard about us just through word of mouth, which is excellent seeing we have been together for such a short period of time,” said Ben.

“We don’t do covers.

“We are working very hard on our own material and will have songs ready for our album next year.”
