ANYTHING that gets Geordie prizefighter Cheryl Tweedy crying like a baby is fine by me. But I'm just being mean.

Last night's Ghost Hunting with Girls Aloud was, in all fairness, hilarious viewing.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past two years you'll know Girls Aloud are one of the most successful pop groups in the UK right now, having bravely fought their way to the top during the nerve-shredding terror of the Popstars auditions.

But the fear of having Simon Cowell tell you you're "distinctly average" it seems is nothing compared to a night of ghost hunting with Yvette Fielding - and not just because of Yvette's choice of jumper.

The girls - except Nadine, who was too scared - were packed off to two of the UK's most haunted houses to film a one-off ghost hunting special.

And (sorry) there was definitely "something kinda ooooh" in the air when the pop princesses did a ouija board and visited a disused hospital morgue, so much so that they screamed the place down and sobbed through most of the night.

"It was terrible. I yelled the place down and burst into tears when something touched my arm," said Cheryl.

Even "the ginger one", Nicola, walked off set before they'd finished filming, such was her fear.

Goodness knows what the spooks made of it all with mini-skirted pop stars invading their homes and swearing at them.

I'd have been tempted to do a bit more than stroke their arms.
