THE build-up to the release of an EP for Blackburn band Rime Suspex is creating excitement for the trio, who formed in January this year.
And according to guitarist Rory Myles, it is the ‘best thing’ to happen to the band, who are described as a three-piece powerhouse.
The three members, including vocalist Miranda Myles and and rapper Rob Duckett, combine soul-soaked melodies, powerful riffs and urban poetry to create a unique sound.
“This is the biggest thing that we have done together as a band and it’s really exciting,” said Rory, from Blackburn.
The four tracks on the debut EP include Escort, Live My Life, Miss You Loads and Money, and it is due to be released on August 16 when the band perform at the Live Lounge in Blackburn.
Rory said: “This is the biggest achievement that we have had since we formed together as Rime Suspex.
“We have all done things individually but as a band this is great.
“We are embracing the moment.”
The band formed around half a year after a Jam session together.
They began to write songs together and quickly built up a repertoire of original material.
Rob (also known as Vivid) co-organises the Rap House event (currently held at Live Lounge) and there the band have played support slots for big names in the Rap scene such as Blizzard and Shotty Horroh, as well as supporting indie singer John Power known from The Cast and The La's.
“We are taking the launch of the EP very seriously because it’s all change for us,” said Rory.
“It is a big thing. On the album there are lots more beats, bass and synths.
“We usually only perform acoustic sessions and there’s not much of that in our live performances, but it’s something that we are going to start introducing,” said Rory.
The album, named after the group, will be available to download on the iTunes chart.
They have also ordered 1,000 copies to sell at gigs.
On August 16, Rime Suspex are supported by local acts R.Y.A.N, Kazz and Chris Hinnigan when they launch their EP at The Live Lounge and the trio will also be performing at Reidy’s, Blackburn on August 18 at 6pm.
